ODBC issue

My friend is trying to setup his server but is having issues with the ODBC. I've tried multiple things myself and can't figure out what the issue is. If anyone could help, that'd be appreciated. This is obviously a very small issue.

I know it sounds silly, but is he running the server local? If he is running the server local, where he goes to put "Server" you just need to put a "." in place. Without knowing or really being shown a video of how he is trying to setup ODBC it limits us.
