What was the best RPG games you have ever played

I am missing old single player hardcore role playing games and
been just wondering if there might be some old skool hardcore rpg
players between us. So maybe you could share your opinions with
others about what was your best rpg game you have ever played
ever played.

Asking, because I might have missed some great stuff and now
it would be good time to get it

My TOP list would be:

1. Wizardy series / Albion
2. Might & Magic series
3. Bauldurs Gate series

Tactical rpg:
1. Fallout/Jagged Alliance series
2. and probably heroes of m&m

(I am sure I must have forgot something now so I ll add it later)
I know probably wrong section, I didn't know where to post it so I putted it here,
at least I can hope for more answers till mods would notice and then they can
move it to proper section. (So no flames pls =))[/b]

For rpg i would add Nevewinter Nights, Eye of the Beholder 1 & 2, Amberstar and Ambermoon (best rpg's ever)
For Tactical how can u forget x-com (UFO Enemy Unknown = Classic)

Zelda is the best game out there XD haha classic story and everything (Super nintendos: link 2 the past is the greatest XD), but for RPG... hmmm many different choices.... cant think about the best off the top of my head... so many of them ><

Holy shit, can&#39;t believe nobody put any of the soloplay Ultima series (discounting one mention of ultima online).

Ultima 7 and Ultima 7 Part 2 were / are the most amazing games i&#39;ve ever played. So much depth and such clever plot interaction. Plus the easter eggs and jokes were excellent.

Heh, heh, heh...

You could make money by taking up baking as a profession in the main town and selling the bread. However it was much more useful for its "brick" quality, cos you could stack them up and use them like stairs!

There was an Armageddon spell which you could learn... and if you cast it EVERYBODY DIES, except you and Lord British who gives you one hell of a ticking off before the game ends...

The game was in an isometric viewpoint, so you always saw the south and west sides of the buildings, so cunningly this was put into the game lore. Talk about attention to detail.

VARGAZ&#39;S STORIES OF LEGEND

Reasons why one should never build doors facing north or west. Many centuries ago, the prophet, Father Antos, foretold the coming of a plague of Locusts that would arrive from the lands to the north. He predicted that their source area was so important that it would indicate who would survive the attack, and who would not. He predicted that anyone living in a house having a door with a northern exposure would perish under the onslaught. Two days later, the locusts came, and in the aftermath, it was discoverd that only the houses with doors on the north wall were destroyed.

...The naturalist, Ergan, incorporating Algarth&#39;s discovery that the sun rises from the east, theorized that the nightly path of many dark-dwelling nasties could be traced. As the sun moves slowly to the west, Ergan contends, shadows increase in the east, forcing monsters to move that direction to stay out of the sun. Therefore, as denizens of the dark travel from the west, they are more likely to invade households with doors that directly cross their paths...

But besides that, my mispent youth my mates and I wrote our own RPG which was going to be called NeoKhaos, only it never got finished enough to try and publish. Annoyingly some of our best unique ideas are now being used in other games.

<3 Final Fantasy Tactics .. freaking awsome storyline . .gameplay etc..

and just last week . .beated Suikoden Tactics.. took ohnly 30 hr lol T_T 2 day
and there hoshigami .. and a a few ones i forgot to mention but yes yes ..
tactics is the shit

ooo and dont forget Tales Of Destiny 1/2 awesome fightin system and of course Star Ocean.

Yeah, FFT has a great story, one of the best stories amoung FF series in my opinion.

the only thing I didn&#39;t like about FFT was the whole "death" system. I can see if someone dies, they die permanently ( after a length in the fight ). But what I hated was when you got new people, they were lvl 1 and the monsters you faced were based on your level. You would have lvl 1&#39;s in your party while fighting lvl 60 monsters.... was just gay -_-

Yeah that sucked, if ramza died and 5 or something turns go up before bringing him back to life, game over, but i just use the cheat lvling thingy to lvl all my chars when they are low, how i loved to do it to get lvls and all skills :lol:
