    I'm glad I didn't discover online games properly untill I was 23 [/b]
I wouldnt say that, tho you got a point. I'm happy I didnt discover games at the age of 10-12, like so much kids do nowadays. At that age, you need to be outside, play.

I'm glad I did play games during uni (as I'm still doing, but more limited). I fukked up the first semester of uni (only passed 2 out of my 7 exams), but I made alot conclusions out of it. Having my priorities, things I wouldnt discover out of myself without walking against "that wall" I did 1 year ago. I easily passed my 2 next examperiods and headed to my second year.

Anyways, you took the right decision. Taking some distance of pc in generally never hurts. Take care

Maybe you got rejected from stanford because you weren't good enough? Just a thought. I applied for cambridge since i was predicted straight A's but got rejected, it was before i even started gaming so I had no excuses. Sometimes you have to stop trying to blame other things and accept you weren't good enough. And besides, Stanford is just a name to impress people. There are loads of other good places that specialise in certain fields so getting one rejection isn't the end of the world. I know that i got hung up on being rejected at the time, because I really wanted to be in the "elite" crowd but if anything it was a blessing in disguise since Nottingham was such a good place to come to instead. And a lot of the top universities only accept candidates who have exceptional extra curricular activities; for instance doing volunteer work and expeditions to the Andes, on top of having straight A's. They aren't impressed with someone who can play guitar very loud.[/b]
    yeh hes right
going to standford or harvard doesnt mean shit... there r loads of schools that have way better majors than harvard.. the school im looking to going to is a public college.. western illinois
guess wut its ranked #2 in the us in best law enforcment school. Just because standards to get into the school are lower doesnt mean its worse.

worst part is you were shite at the game as well!!!!!!

i'm messing around, sad to hear you didn't reach those goals you set yourself.

seriously though academics is far from everything, and i'm saying that as someone with a degree from one of the red brick uni's here in england. When you apply for jobs from an entry level position, people seem more interested in your experiences, and your personality then they do your test results.

you baba keep on saying education isn't everything
yes that is right.. but also wrong in some cases!!!!

to some asian family.. education is everything to them (the parents), thats why they pressure their kids into study study and study...
they been bound by their parents since birth.. they have no where to go, no one to turn to... only choice is to study
some cool kid... get the doctor/lawyer/ what ever their parents wanted then throw it into their face then goes off.
some cooler kid... commit seppuku from the pressure

OMG dude are you fucking kidding me lol

3.5 gpa is great and also big fucking deal you didnt get into stanford....u got it up to 4.0 so go to another top uni dude...dont cry over it and get more depressed

ko is not to blame for you not getting into a college...its either the college or YOU.....ko was a choice you made and the college chose not to accept you

and no offense whats the point in a ivy league college? i know over 20 of my closest friends who didnt go to ivy leagues and just went to really good unis who all make over 200k like me per year and some make close to a million per year....ffs how much money do you need......STATUS of a ivy league college is OVER RATED.....all it really gets you is a stuck up attitude

get up off your ass and go have fun and enjoy life instead of killing yourself over a dumb ivy league college and not getting in

YOU ARE, WHO YOU ARE, CAUSE OF WHAT YOU MAKE OF YOURSELF FROM THIS POINT ON....SO CHOOSE YOUR FUTURE WISELY

PS. Drexel grad here with a 3.7 gpa and 1350 on my s.a.t when they went up to 1600 so really dude IT MEANS NOTHING

i agree with this post as well as 0000000's post...

    ...

dude, youre just full of emotion right now and have no one else to blame but yourself. it wasnt the games fault you didnt get in...its your own fault...plain and simple.

if you cant accept responsibility for your own actions, it will make you a weaker person and you will grow up a pussy that no one will ever respect...trust me, i know people like this.

also, understand that in life...things like this need to happen to you...its a selective process that seperates the men from the boys.

right now, you have two choices before you....curl up like a pussy, accept defeat, and forever be a little whining bitch. (i had one friend that blamed affirmative action for his inability of getting into MIT and he is one of the biggest pussies i know...he still to this day, blames affirmative action)

    or

hope that this rejection lights a fire under your ass and motivates you, while also humbling and enriching you.

    ...
stanford is an ok school, depending on what you want to do.

if you were looking into their science program, then theres always cit, mit or uc davis

if you were looking to do some liberal arts junk in hopes of one day using the name to enter into a "prestigious" investment bank / mba program...then save yourself the headache and just go to nyu stern...youll be a nice and shiny tool in either case.

many years from now when youre my age, youll realize that you crying over this was a bunch of nonsense. life doesnt end or begin with the acceptance to an ivy league.

also, you can always bust your ass off as an undergrad and either transfer in or get into a kick ass mba.
most of the ivy mba kids i know are actually from non-ivy schools, but they arent pussies either.

man up, grow some balls and figure a way to create the life that you want without blaming everything around you.

    ...

    good luck

to cry over getting a 3.5 gpa is insulting to the intelligence to the general audience of this forum. i think you should use better taste and judgment when declaring the grades to be "failing". if you were attempting to garner sympathy or attention, then its best to be sensible and play to your audience rather than provoking them with such wanton assumptions.
i understand that a 3.5 gpa from a top high school is "shit" (i went to stuyvesant) but you seriously need to come to grips with reality and just plan a bit better in the future.

hopefully youll learn a few things about yourself from this whole experience.

Just wanna say that a 3.5 is ok, but not nearly great. Especially for an Asian family (no offense to any Asians here). Their parents, for whatever reason, seem to be so focused on education that they won't settle for anything less than a 4.0. I don't know why, but they do.

Anyway, I think that 9 pages is enough on this subject. If another Mod feels differently, be my guest to reopen it, just think that everything that needed to be said has been said.
