Religion is for the weak, for those who fear death and need something to comfort them. Sure some of the teachings are interesting and Buddhism is very interesting but Islam and Judaism mainly are the cause of billions of lost lives over the centuries. All because you disagree on who the guy with the big beard is upstairs. You can flame me all you want, but at the end of the day, I have free will, I can go out on a friday night and get pissed, I dont have to ask my god if its ok first. Oh and I dont shoot people because they have different beliefs to mine.

I'm not going to debate the existance of God, I really dont have a few million years spare but what I will say is that ppl that dont believe in God tend to be less homicidal.

Not "equal to God"; just God. Read up on the Holy Trinity; the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost, are not held to be equal, but all are God. You are right of course; only parts of the Christian world believe in the Holy Trinity, they are however the majority.

Certainly the ones i grew up with did not and we were taught that jesus was only the son of god, and a prophet like mohammed.

I suppose that is what you get for growing up in a Jehovah's Witness enclave; it explains a great many things. On a serious note, there are far less nontrinitarians than trinitarians in Christian faith.

I suppose many catholics would believe rather different things.

The Trinity is not a Catholic invention, most denomintions share the belief.

There are two types of proof; a statement can be considered proven through empirical means, and something can be considered proven by being a consistent, convincing argument/theory. Religions are usually in the realm of the latter. The only way to fight this argument is to reject its metaphysics entirely, and focus solely on empiricism. As soon as you do that however, you're in fact making a leap of faith, and assume that the universe is knowable in its entirety through empirical means. While it's a valid belief with some merits, you should be aware of the fact that the philosophical grounds for it are just as shaky as any religious belief you so vehemently oppose.
